What is an actress?: An actress is someone who has a passion for creating art on stage, in film or on Tv.

What qualifications are needed?

There are no set qualifications necessary for starting a career in acting but to stand out its beneficial you have experience and knowledge of the arts. A- level and GCSE qualifications are standard for what directors expect in some cases but otherwise as long as you have some education and lots of talent you should be okay. 

What experience is needed?

To become a successful actress, experience is necessary to build your knowledge of the art. This can be created through: participation in projects on stage and off stage, headshots, joining theatre groups, taking acting classes, scouting for an agent and watching a variety of performances. This will gradually build stability in the career by making you stand out in addition to learning new skills.

How much can you expect to be paid?

The amount varies due to the significance and popularity surrounding your film in addition to the demand for your presence in the movie. However the average actress' salary in the UK is £40,000.

What future career progression is there from this role?

You can have an active part in the acting community and have people wanting you in their movies. Your pay will most likely increase and you will have jobs being scouted by your agent.

Job Profile: Film Director

What is a film director: A film director controls the creative aspects of a movie through cinematography. They supervise the film crew and the actors to ensure they bring the movie to life.

  • Vivid imagination
  • Communication skills

What qualifications are needed?
Significant work experience in the film industry and a bachelor's degree are usually the most common requirements for directors. In addition to this, by having representation from an acting agency this builds your professional appearance towards directors.

What experience do you need?

  • Several years of work experience
  • Creation of own film or participation in student projects
  • Knowledge of technical equipment
  • Working as a runner or assistant on a movie
 
How much can you expect to be paid?
This is dependent on whether its an independent project and the amount of experience the director has in the industry. The cost to create a movie is significantly high therefore there isn't a guarantee you will receive that investment back, yet the average payment stands at £36,000 a year.

What future career progression is there from this role?
You can be requested to direct movies for huge stars/ scriptwriters in the industry and invest in the creation of merchandise surrounding the movie. In addition to that, you can put your movies in cinema to increase the popularity and have people more interested in your work.
